CIA DELEGATE

55th Coupe Mondiale 2002, Copenhagen 16th to 19th October 2002.

Hosted by the Danske Harmonikaspilleres Landsforbund (DHL) Patronage of His Royal Highness Prins Henrik.

Wednesday 16th October, was the Arrival and registration of the candidates, the CIA Music Committee met and the 1st CIA Congress took place.

CIA Executive Committee President Kevin Friedrich of the USA chaired the meeting under great sadness, as his father died aged 72 years at their home in New Zealand, whilst he was traveling to the Coupe Mondiale, he immediately booked a flight to return home.

The Congress called for change in the system to update using the internet resources, and Elections for Nominations for the Executive Committee, nominations received Vice Presidents, three in all Raymond Bodell United Kingdom, Kimmo Mattila, Finland, Tibor Racz Slovakia, General Secretary/Treasurer Walter Maurer, Austria, Publicity Manager, Harley Jones, New Zealand.  Nominations received for the Music Committee, Chairman Frederic Deschamps, France, Vice President Joan Sommers USA ATG, Harley Jones, New Zealand, Max Bonnay, France, John Leslie, United Kingdom, Jacques Mornet, France, Viatchislav Semionov, Russia, all Nominees were unopposed, and therefore successful.

The Contestants met to draw for places, the first of the Concerts took place in the evening which featured the Alerod Accordeon Orchestra conducted by Peter Anders and Duo Modus, Marta Libalova, violin and Jytte v. Ruden Accordion.

Thursday 17th October, 9.00 am the first round of the Senior Coupe Mondiale at the Nationalmuseum, and the Junior Coupe Mondiale round 1 at the Borups Hejskole in the afternoon Chambermusic, and Senior Virtuoso Entertainment, the calculation committee then prepared the List of candidates who had got through to the 2nd round and posted them in the foyer. Two concerts were presented in the evening at the Rundetarn and the National Museum which featured Orangotango, from the Royal Academy of Music, Accordion, Violin, Guitar, Piano and Bass performing works of Piazzolla., also Heidi Hansen and Morten Rossen performed virtuoso accordion music of different styles.

Friday 18th October  the second round of the Senior and the final round of the Junior Coupe took place at 9.00 am, in the afternoon it was the Piano Accordion Section and Junior Virtuoso Entertainment, the calculation committee then posted the successful candidates names for the 3rd round of the Senior Coupe Mondiale. The Concert Featured Duo Semyonov, The Duo Lars Holm and Inge Petersson, Heidi and Morten, Ukrainian Dyvohray, the Danish Swedish Duo M. Boekgaard/J.Sundequist Orchestra from Egtved Kalundborg,.

Saturday the Senior Coupe Mondial 3rd round at the National Museum took place at 9.00 am, in the afternoon the CIA Congress met following the calculations committee had the final results, these results were ratified by the CIA Congress to be announced in the evening with presentations at the Final Concert, this took place in the Black Diamond, an amazing theatre of modern architecture. This featured the winners of each section.

  • The Senior Coupe Mondiale and the Piano Accordion section was won by Alexander Poeluev, Russia, 2nd place Artem Kouznetsov, Russia and 3rd place Milos Millivojevic, Serbia.

  • The Junior Coupe Mondiale  1st place Rade Mijatovic, Yugoslavia, 2nd place Aude Giuliano, France, and 3rd place Anton Torbeev, Russia, Larysa Bodell from UK  sustained 8th place.

  • The Piano Class 1st place Alexander Poeluev, Russia, 2nd place Nadejda Guseva, Russia, 3rd place Robert Campbell Bettridge, New Zealand.

  • The Junior Virtuoso results 1st place Jeremy Lafon, 2nd place Guy Giuliano,  3rd place Mickael Vigneau, all from France.  William Langton of the UK placed 18th.

  • The Senior Virtuoso results, 1st place Joao Carlos Frade, Portugal, 2nd place Natalino Marchetti, Italy, 2rd place Alexander Shirunov, Russia.

  • Chamber Class 1st place Leszek Kokodziejski and Pawek Cieslak, Poland, 2nd place Radoslaw Puszyto and Maciej Cwiklinski, Poland, 3rd place Zoran Kirjakovski and Atanas Aleksov Blagoja Antovski, Macedonia.

The Concert was very special with featured artistes from the Concerts during the Coupe Mondiale, also featured the son of Morgens Ellegard playing Violin, and the Allerod Accordion Orchestra with special guests, a fine finale to the event.

THE SUPERB PERFORMERS THE DUO SEMYONOV

The largest entry for the Coupe Mondiale ever, over 100 contestants, it was thanks to Mr Alfred Renner Chairman and The Danish Accordion Association, for their organization of the 55th Coupe Mondiale in the beautiful city of Copenhagen.

Owing to the departure of Kevin Freidrich, Vice President Raymond Bodell from UK Chaired the final Congress, also was the Master of Ceremonies for the Final Concert and Presentations, both were conducted in an articulate charismatic manner.

All the contestants hugged each other, and said goodbye, an odd tear or two could be seen, the competitors had enjoyed each others company and would look forward to meeting at the next Coupe Mondiale, a wonderful competitive spirit, Officials, Delegates, Adjudicators, the Organizing Committee, and the CIA Executives said goodbye.
